The Government of the Virgin Islands, through the Ministry of Health and Social Development, is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Members of the National Drug Advisory Council (NDAC).
The National Drug Advisory Council was established under the Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act to advise the Minister on preventing the misuse of drugs and to keep under review the Territory’s drug situation. The Council also helps develop strategies for restricting drug availability, supporting treatment and rehabilitation, promoting professional and community cooperation, and raising public awareness about the dangers of drug misuse.
The Advisory Council consists of members representing key interest groups, including:
- Medical and health services
- Education, sports, and youth organisations
- Police and public services
- Legal profession
- Voluntary associations
Qualified individuals should demonstrate a commitment to the NDAC’s mission, leadership experience, integrity, sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills. Members are expected to attend meetings and participate actively in the Council’s deliberations.
