The Governor’s Office is seeking applicants for one vacancy on the Police Service Commission in accordance with Section 96 (a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007 which states that the Governor shall appoint two of five members to serve on the commission.

This appointment is being made through a competitive process, in line with the Protocol for Appointment and Removal of Statutory Board Members.

Function:
Members of the Police Service Commission will advise the Governor on appointments to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), the removal of appointments from the RVIPF and on disciplinary measures against officers holding or acting in such offices. The Governor may act otherwise than in accordance with that advice, if compliance with the advice would prejudice His Majesty’s Service.

Qualifications:
No person shall qualify to be appointed as a member of the Police Service Commission if he or she is a member of or a candidate for election to the House of Assembly or holds or is acting in any public office.

Security clearance will be required for all applicants.

The appointment is contingent on appropriate vetting.
