The Government of The Virgin Islands is hosting the first official visit by a Speaker of the UK House of Commons from 16-19 February 2026. 

Upon arrival, the Speaker - The Right Honourable Sir Lindsay Hoyle - will be formally greeted by His Excellency the Governor, Daniel Pruce; Premier, Honourable Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley; and the Honourable Speaker of the House of Assembly, Corine George-Massicote. 

The visit underscores the strong and enduring relationship between The Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom and reflects a shared commitment to parliamentary democracy, good governance, and institutional collaboration. 

Parliamentary and Official Engagements 

On Tuesday, 17 February, Speaker Hoyle will meet with Premier Wheatley for bilateral discussions. A Special Sitting of the House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands will be convened in honour of the Speaker’s visit, providing an opportunity for parliamentary exchange and the reaffirmation of democratic principles. 

The Speaker will engage in meetings with the Attorney General and her team, the Girl Guides, veterans, and members of The Virgin Islands Cadet Corps. The Speaker will also meet former Members and former Clerks of the House of Assembly. 

On Wednesday, 18 February, the Speaker’s programme includes meetings with the Director of Disaster Management and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change. He will also meet with the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Members of the Opposition, and the Junior Minister for Financial Services. 

Further appointments include a meeting and tour with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, as well as an engagement hosted by Speaker George-Massicote with Members of the House of Assembly and past Speakers.

On Thursday, 19 February, Speaker Hoyle will meet the Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, followed by a wrap-up meeting with Members of the Government to conclude the official programme.
