Residents and visitors in the Virgin Islands are reminded that the Queen Elizabeth II Park is a shared community space that requires everyone to observe its rules to protect its grounds, structures and wildlife.

Residents are reminded of the key rules and reminders including:

• Parking of vehicles on the lawn areas of Queen Elizabeth II Park is strictly prohibited.
• Permission must be obtained from the Ministry before the park may be used for major events.
• The practice of tying ropes to the roof of the gazebos for exercise activities is prohibited.
• Feeding of feral fowls within the park is prohibited, as this contributes to an increase in the rat population and other public-health related concerns.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change (MENRCC), Dr. Ronald Berkeley emphasised the importance everyone doing their part to aid in the preservation of the park. 

He said, “The Queen Elizabeth II Park is a place where families gather, friends meet, and people of all ages find joy in nature and recreation. Each of us plays an important role in keeping the park clean and beautiful. When we take care of this space, we not only protect the environment and uphold community pride, but we also ensure that our children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy the Queen Elizabeth II Park for years to come. Together, we can make our community safer, healthier, and more welcoming for residents and visitors alike.”

Members of the public who observe unauthorised or improper use of the park are encouraged to notify the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change at (284) 468-2147 or by email at menrcc@gov.vg.
