Job Description

To enhance the teaching and learning process through the use of technology by monitoring and maintaining applications and other technological platforms needed to support the delivery of quality education. Provide support for educators in the usage of educational technology  platforms and equipment for pedagogical purposes. Review operational standards to ensure that security and codes of conduct established are adhered to. 


Responsibilities

  1. Work with internal stakeholders and partners to assess needs, define requirements, and support departmental initiatives.
  2. Facilitate discussions on core applications and technology-related matters.
  3. Coordinate data imports/exports and plan system/application upgrades.
  4. Execute assigned tasks efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
  5. Align applications and databases with departmental goals.
  6. Perform routine administration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  7. Track and resolve issues, optimise resources, and enforce data standards.
  8. Implement, test, document, and secure systems in line with policies and requirements.
  9. Maintain policies and procedures for appropriate system use.
  10. Provide frontline technical support to schools.
  11. Train users on applications and standards; deliver professional development for educators.
  12. Support instructional integration of technology through co-teaching, modelling, and planning.
  13. Develop reports/queries and coordinate testing of new systems or functionality.
  14. Draft, proofread, and maintain departmental correspondence and documents.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental effectiveness.
  16. Maintain accurate inventory of technology resources.
  17. Assist with installation, configuration, and testing of hardware.
  18. Troubleshoot and repair devices as required.

Qualifications / Experience / Eligibility

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related area
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a related area
  • Good knowledge of Government structure, policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of information systems, users and applications
  • Ability to learn a wide range of relevant programming languages and environments
  • Good knowledge of methods and techniques used in operations
  • Good knowledge of relevant computer software applications
  • Good knowledge of the use of standard office equipment
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Good analytical and decision-making skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Manages own resources and professional development
  • Provides leadership in area of responsibility
  • Ensures products and services meet quality requirements
  • Obtains information for decision-making
  • Analyses information
