Vacancy Notice
Release Date: 4 May, 2026

The Government of the Virgin Islands, through the Ministry of Health and Social Development, is inviting qualified and committed individuals to apply for appointment as members of the Nurses and Midwives Council.

The Nurses and Midwives Council was established under the Nurses and Midwives Act, 2020, to regulate the registration, licensing, and professional conduct of nurses, midwives, and assistive nursing personnel in the Virgin Islands. In accordance with the Act, the Council comprises seven members, including representatives appointed by the Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and the BVI Nurses Association, as well as the Chief Nursing Officer who serves ex officio. Members will collectively contribute to key decisions, including determining qualifications for registration, establishing standards of practice, developing policies for continuing education, and upholding the Nurses Code of Ethics.

The Ministry is seeking individuals who demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to public service. Ideal candidates should possess leadership experience, sound judgement, and the ability to think strategically while contributing meaningfully to discussions and decision making. Applicants must also be willing to actively participate in meetings and maintain confidentiality in the execution of their duties.
