The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sustainable Development has rescheduled several events on the calendar for Culture and Tourism Month 2025. The activities, being held this month under the theme “Rooted in Culture, Growing Through Tourism,” celebrates the Territory’s heritage and growth of the local tourism product.
“The Ministry and its partners remain committed to delivering high-quality cultural and tourism-focused activities throughout the Territory,” said Permanent Secretary, Mr. Joseph Smith-Abbott. “The activities so far have been a tremendous success and the following are being rescheduled to ensure optimal participation, enhanced experiences, and successful event delivery.”
1. Launch of the Virgin Gorda Historical Tour Manual – Rescheduled
The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and Film Commission is pleased to announce the forthcoming launch of the Virgin Gorda Historical Tour Manual, a significant achievement in the continued development of authentic cultural experiences. This publication—the second in the Historical Tour Manual series—is crafted to empower transportation professionals with deeper knowledge of Virgin Islands’ history, sharing accurate and engaging narratives with visitors.

2. Opening of the Virtual Reality Museum – Rescheduled
The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and Film Commission will introduce the Territory’s first Virtual Reality Museum, an innovative project designed to immerse residents and visitors in the natural, cultural, and aquatic environments of the Virgin Islands through cutting-edge VR technology.
The museum showcases an interactive 360° experience of the islands, offering a captivating journey that feels as real as being there. As part of Phase Two, the Wing Whale Media Production team will return to capture breathtaking footage from the Sister Islands to expand the Virtual Reality Museum collection.

3. Emancipation Festival Forum – Date and Location To Be Announced
The Ministry also advises that the Emancipation Festival Forum, initially listed on the Culture and Tourism Month calendar for 25 November, has been postponed.
4. Fungi Workshop - Rescheduled
“The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sustainable Development apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of these events being rescheduled, and solicits the continued support of the public, partners, and stakeholders as we work to deliver meaningful and memorable cultural and tourism experiences,” said Mr. Smith-Abbott. “We remain dedicated to ensuring that all events uphold the values and vision of the Government of the Virgin Islands.”
