His Excellency Mr. Mayank Joshi, High Commissioner of India to Jamaica and Non-resident Consul for the Virgin Islands (British), formally presented his credentials to the Honourable Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley, Premier of the Virgin Islands, during a courtesy call held on Friday, 29th August, 2025.

In welcoming Mr. Joshi, Premier Wheatley underscored the Virgin Islands’ interest in building stronger bilateral relations with India. Premier Wheatley acknowledged that about 200 Indian nationals currently reside in the Virgin Islands and noted their valued contribution to the territory’s socio-economic fabric.

Discussions between Premier Wheatley and Mr. Joshi focused on key areas of cooperation, including capacity building through education and training opportunities for Virgin Islanders in India, as well as exploring avenues to enhance trade through the development of appropriate technological frameworks.

During the courtesy call, Premier Wheatley was accompanied by Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Mrs. Carolyn Stoutt Igwe, and Director (Ag.) for International Affairs, Ms. Dwynel Davis.

The Government of the Virgin Islands looks forward to deepening its engagement with the Republic of India and exploring mutual opportunities that will benefit both jurisdictions.
