The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is reminding the public that all fishing tournaments require official licencing to ensure the sustainable management of marine resources.

Organisers must obtain a licence before advertising their events.

Applications are due at least ninety (90) days in advance.

Participants must also ensure compliance by applying at least thirty (30) days before the tournament date.

All participating vessels must hold a valid Certificate of Registration issued by the Department.

Following the event, organisers are legally responsible for submitting accurate catch and release data for every participating vessel.

Authorised officers will monitor activities and may inspect vessels at any time.

Failure to pay required fees or adhere to these regulations will result in legal penalties.
