Press Release
Organisation:
The Environmental Health Division is reminding all food business proprietors that a valid Food Business License issued by the division is required to operate within the Territory.
Acting Chief Environmental Health Officer, Ms. Henrietta Alexander said that Part IX, Section 28 of the Public Health Food Hygiene Regulations 1972 states that all food businesses must register with the Environmental Health Division and obtain a license permitting the operation of said food business.
Ms. Alexander said, “A Food Business License confirms that an establishment has been registered, inspected, and has met the necessary requirements to operate as a food business within the Virgin Islands.”
The Food Business license is valid for one year from the date of issuance. It must be displayed in a conspicuous location within the food establishment at all times and in the event that the license is removed, damaged, hidden, obscured, or allowed to become illegible, the proprietor will be in violation of the regulations.
Businesses that have been inspected and approved may collect their licenses at the Environmental Health Division Monday to Friday during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Persons requiring additional information or assistance to facilitate the licensing process can contact the division at (284) 468-5110.
The Environmental Health Division remains committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of the people of the Virgin Islands through the enforcement of public health standards.
