The Ministry of Health and Social Development is inviting qualified and reputable local contractors to submit tenders for the management and maintenance of the North Sound Public Cemetery on Virgin Gorda.
This initiative forms part of the Government of the Virgin Islands’ ongoing commitment to maintaining public spaces with dignity, care, and respect, particularly those that serve as final resting places for loved ones.
The selected service provider will be responsible for the overall upkeep and management of the cemetery. Key duties include maintaining cleanliness and order on a weekly basis, repairing and preserving tombs and tombstones, managing burial plots, overseeing vault construction in accordance with Ministry guidelines, and ensuring that the grounds remain safe and accessible to the public.
Additionally, the contractor will be required to open and secure the cemetery daily between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., while upholding the sanctity of the space to ensure a dignified and respectful environment for mourners and visitors.
The engagement will be for a period of two (2) years, with the contract awarded to the tenderer submitting the most advantageous proposal based on financial competitiveness, relevant experience, and the qualifications of key personnel.
Interested tenderers must possess a valid trade licence and provide certificates of good standing with Social Security, National Health Insurance, and Inland Revenue. A site visit is also required to assess the scope of works prior to submission.
Tenders must be submitted in hard copy and clearly marked “Proposed Management and Maintenance of North Sound Public Cemetery, Virgin Gorda”. Submissions should be addressed to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Social Development and placed in the Ministry’s Tender Box no later than 10:00 a.m. on 2 June 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
The Government of the Virgin Islands reserves the right to accept or reject any tender and is not obligated to award the contract.
